2015 New Year’s Resolution

Hi guys! OMG, I can’t remember when was my real last post on this blog. If we are friends on Facebook, you probably saw my status about it. That I will stick on a personal blog, with tagalog-english posts. There will still, be some beauty related post. Well I just realized that, why am I doing a beauty blog? Was it for the competition? Since a lot of girls doing a beauty blog, where you just bought a beauty product review and post it in your blog? Is that it? It made me realize, when you review those things, you aren’t one of them already. If only I can share more about my realization last year.

First of all, 2 years of working as an Online Freelancer, I didn’t get to save up. When I read the “I Wish They Thought Money in High School”, it taught me things that I should do when I’m still young. And how can I taught my child, how to save money even if they are just kids. What I like the most is the Money Map, you should always get at least 20% in your salary and put them in the bank. I’m planning to add this on our account in Metrobank’s Junior Fun Saver’s Club, which I opened for my son and me, good thing about this, is that it has his own passbook. 🙂

That’s why since last year, when I asked my friend, how is she saving up. She told me one thing, the 52 Week Money Challenge. Well since you need to start it at January, I said to myself that I will start next year, which is January 2015. Everything is ready now, on January 9th, I will go to NBI Lrt to get a nbi clearance which is already paid, thanks to their online clearance, now I can also renew my Unionbank EON.

And after that, I will also go to SM Manila to get my new passport, on January 24th. Which will I need, so I can open up a passbook account, up to now I don’t know which bank should I get to save, BDO passbook account only needs P10,000.00 to open and same amount to gets it annual interest which is 0.2500. BPI has the same amount to open P10,000.00 but P25,000.00 for the annual interest which is the same as 0.2500. I’m also thinking just to get the BPI Family Savings Bank passbook, since there’s one branch near our place, same with BPI but the interest rate is doubled 0.500. Anyways, this is a different savings from the 52 week money challenge. 🙂

If you were in my shoes, what do you think should I get? I bet getting a passport now is not that hard, since I only need it to open up accounts, its hard for me to get these government ids, I only have postal id haha! That’s the fastest id I can only get. I will also, check on how to get hold of an SSS account, I heard from my colleague last 2 years that she get her financial aid when she gave birth to her son. Since, we will conceive a new child in the family when Lain reaches 7yo. I’m excited! And yes, family planning is still the best!

This year is all about saving!

I also have good news! My blog, itsmedeann.com is now back on its feet, she regain her lost rank since April 2014. And now I’m planning to monetize them all with Google Adsense, which everyone is getting a looooot of $$$ from it. $100 is the cashout, and I’m way half of it! I can’t wait to receive my first payment!

I can’t really promise to update this blog often, but I will do so! I hired a writer for my other blogs, so I can keep up with the updates. I will also make a viral/entertainment website, this year but the website would be a secret. 🙂 It’s because of the competition, the personal information is really private.

And also, if you are a mom like me (for the mothers out there), how did you first started, teaching your child the basics? Like writing, coloring, memorizing, etc.. I’m having difficulties with my son, well since me and my partner is in front on our workspaces all the time, we are having a hard time teaching him those. Like he is sooo lazy to learn all of them. Though he knows now how to write his first name. Can you tell me some kind of trick or maybe I should enroll him at the nearest barangay nursery school first? Before enrolling him to a good nursery school near our place, (well I just want to check first if he will be interested and what will be his reaction).

I even bought a star stamp, so he will be encourage to write, lol. And believe me I already bought a lot of materials, even printed them. He is turning 5 this year. This is also included on my new year’s resolution, to give more time to my son, especially he will be attending school very soon. Since this kid haven’t with other kids, he will adjust a lot. Like the other day, he is with the other kids here, he is so happy. Well we never let him play outside with the other kids, without us looking at it, because we are afraid that someone will bully him, which we don’t really like. XD

Another resolution will be, well this one, I know you heard a lot of this from other people, your friends, relatives, etc.. haha! I will be going to gym this year, so I can lose weight or just do some squats in the house instead. Sa totoo lang, ang dami ko kasing nakain last festive, I even cooked Pork Belly Lechon, the first time ha, and grabe it was really delicious! Ayun probably I gained 2kg haha! And grabe, naumay ako sa sarili ko now when I look in the mirror, it’s not right. 🙁

As of the moment, I have this thing on my chest, its like “nabibilaukan” though kahit uminom ako ng water, nandun parin siya. My partner said, baka may barado akong ugat, para kasing hangin siya na nandun lang na hindi makalabas. So I might go to the doctor soonest, to check if there’s something, and upon writing this, I’m feeling it now. And it is not right. 🙁 Ang gara lang sa pakiramdam..

So this will be the first post of this year! I really hope I can keep up with the money challenge, I always ask my partner to remind me of it. 🙂

Btw, if you can’t keep up with the 50peso increment, you can also try 5, 10, 15, 20, for this challenge. As for me, I think I can do the 50peso increment here! 🙂

I would suggest not to consider bank that is closer to your place if you wanted to save. Choose the best bank but not accessible for you to withdraw right away.

I opened a passbook at Chinabank which only has 1 branch near my place and closes at 5PM which is pass my office schedule. What I love about it is it doesn’t have an atm. So no easy access for temptation.

I am doing the 52 days challenge as well 🙂

    Good Luck to us. 🙂

Goodluck talaga, 50’s kaba or 100’s? For sure kaya mo 100!

      Goodluck!

        • Reply Deann January 6, 2015 at 6:38 pm

I’m doing the 52-Week Money Challenge this year too! I hope we both can achieve what we’ve set out to do.

    • Reply Deann January 6, 2015 at 3:54 pm

I think everyone is doing this money challenge ever since the year started! 🙂 Goodluck to us!

      • Reply Gil Camporazo January 17, 2015 at 5:58 pm

Yes, everyone wants to save for the rainy days and making a bank saving deposit is only one of the many ways. One thing I could remember in order to save money, a proper budgeting is of great importance and avoiding an impulse buying is also a money-saving attitude. And many more. My son doesn’t like writing activity too but I always give him writing exercises and I keep on buying writing workbooks but until now I’m still getting “more practice writing” note from his teacher. hehehe!

What old is he now po? Do you think its a good idea, if ienroll ko muna siya sa brgy nursery? So I can see if ano reaction niya, I had experience kasi before with my nephew, tinamad siya magschool at 4yo. Before ko sana itry ienroll sa talagang nursery school near our area. Happy New Year po!

He is 6yrs old now, I enrolled him in school when he was 3.8 yrs old. Like you, fear ko din magstop siya and sayang sa tuition. Dapat day care lang din kaso dapat 4yrs old daw so I have no choice kundi sa private school ko siya enroll. So far, naenjoy naman niya yung school though sabi more on laro pa lang anak ko. Pero I did not mind it basta may natutunan siya. #nopressure I just transferred him to big school this school year and nakapagadjust naman kahit papano.

Good luck to your 50-peso 52-week savings plan. If you are consistent of putting 50 pesos per week, you will get a hefty amount of P68,900.00. Wow, that’s a lot of money, more than enough to satisfy your needs for the next year.

My daughter is in Kinder now. I enrolled her at 5 years old na kasi ayaw nyang pumasok sa school so hindi ko sya pinilit but I always gave her activities na gusto nya sa bahay. 😉

This is such a great idea! 50 pesos increment is good price to start off and move from there. I never done something like this. I think I should give it a try and well see what happen. Thanks for the idea Sis

My 4 yr old is in a kindy 1 this year and she does go to school but I also supplement school her when she is home. We do a lot of reading and also some writing using those writing exercise books. I guess sitting down together and doing it with her makes her more happy to try it out. Maybe you can adopt a similar approach with your child in doing things together with them to get him started.

Make it your goal to have accounts in both banks. Banking takes much of my time just waiting. BDO is open till 7pm and saturdays while BPI has online queueing.

Oh, I hope your see the doctor the soonest.

We will do the 52-week money challenge too. And we do a modified one for our son. Di ka acidic sis? Sometimes I am like that e. Yun feeling bloated then parang I am full hanggang chest at feeling ko may nakabara.

I am also doing the 52 Weeks Money Saving. The P10 increment will work for me best.

Hi Deann! Haven’t heard that much from you, especially on Twitter. Anyhow, you can surely do this challenge. Good luck to your journey!

Not a Twitter addict anymore. 🙂

Good luck sa 52-week challenge, I’ve been seeing a lot about it all across social media.

My son is lazy in writing. But I realize Is shouldn’t force him kasi he will in his own time. Meron naman improvement, he’s getting interested especially if he sees me writing/drawing more often. Before, he would always ask me to draw something for him, but now, he’s drawing things himself na.

Hi Sis! I suggest engaging yourself in investment program, not just merely saving and counting your money at the end of the year. Consider reading more about the stock market as your investment vehicle. Read more here if you like and hope it may help you too the way it did to me—

  • Reply Melgie January 14, 2015 at 10:42 pm

This is great! I haven’t started yet but definitely put it into action by next month. I should start with maybe 1,2 dollars then work from there. I can’t wait how much savings I’ll get. Thank you Sis

Everyone is up to the money challenge! Yay!
You can have the bank near your place as long as passbook lang sya so that less temptation to withdraw the money. Sometimes, it is much of an effort to travel just to deposit 🙂

  • Reply Allan January 17, 2015 at 11:49 am

Mommy and I started this 52-week challenge too. We had also for our son, Nanay and Mama. This will be our gift for Christmas to them.

  • Reply Gil Camporazo January 17, 2015 at 5:50 pm

That is absolutely good suggestion to open a bank account, the host bank should be a bit too distant from your residence. You know what is the advantage of that: it seems hard or difficult for you to make any withdrawal or you might be tempted to do such withdrawal anytime due to the distance of the bank. Isn’t it right? (2nd comment – Gil Camporazo)

Good luck on your 52 week money challenge. Once you are able to save for your emergency fund, consider investment products like Unit Investment Trust Fund (which you can get at the bank), Mutual Funds and stock market. Banks give so little interest kasi. talo ka sa inflation

What a great way to start the year! By creating “baby steps” on how you can successfully achieve your goals, it’ll be more achievable and less likely to overwhelm you. Good luck!

Good luck to us Sis! I’m also doing the challenge and hope to complete it. 🙂
